FAQ
Q. It gets very hot in my car because I park it in the sun during the day time. Will this harm my SB-1100.
A. Our SB-Blackbox Drive Recorders with inbuilt Super Capacitor, are rated to withstand 80 Degrees Celsius (Check our specifications). This is much higher rating than other brands and only achievable by use of premium grade components. Other brands are only rated up to 60 C. Some, not at all.
Q. Will I be able to install your SB drive recorder into my car, myself?
A. Of course. It is very easy to install. Almost anyone can do it.
- Attach the mounting bracket to the drive recorder. (Do not remove the adhesive backing from the mounting bracket yet).
- Hold the drive recorder / bracket unit in a position on the windscreen close to the rear view mirror and select a location for installation. Be sure to allow enough clearance between the drive recorder and the mirror. (So that you can adjust your mirror occasionally).
- Clean the glass at the chosen area with methylated spirit. Dry with paper towel / tissue.
- Remove the adhesive backing from the mounting bracket and press firmly into position at the cleaned and dried area on the windscreen.
- Plug the cigar jack power cable into the drive recorder and using the Cable Clips provided, route the cable from the Drive Recorder to the cigar lighter socket. E.g. Along the top of the screen, down the side of the screen trim, under the dash mat and to the cigar lighter. An alternative is to route the power cable out of sight, underneath the trim and under the dash. This will take longer depending on the type of vehicle.
- Before driving, do a final adjustment on the mounting bracket. To do this, push the view button on the Drive Recorder to turn on the LCD. (What is seen in the LCD is what is being recorded). Loosen the knurled knob on the mounting bracket. Move the Drive Recorder left or right or up or down, to aim the Drive Recorder and then retighten the knob.
- The Drive Recorder could also be mounted onto the dash, if preferred.
Q. What about batteries. Do your Drive Recorders come with batteries?
A. No, there are no batteries. Our Drive Recorders are hard wired. Power is supplied from your vehicle.
Best to avoid battery powered car cameras. These may be unreliable with flat batteries when you needed important video evidence.
Lithium batteries and heat do not mix. Likely to fail or pose some other hazard if left in a hot vehicle.
Q. I have seen cheaper blackbox cameras advertised online.
A. As the saying goes- Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten.
Save your money. We imported and checked out various cheapo brands. We decided against selling these because of low quality,
dubious components, cheap lens, fuzzy video playback, Inadequate mounting bracket, unreliable etc.
Sometimes web sites offering these cheap units, show a drive video purportedly taken with the cheap camera but this is usually substituted
footage that was really filmed with a better quality device and not the one that you will receive in the mail.
